Using regional materials reduces emissions. AustroCel Hallein has been changing their supplier structure in recent years which allowed us to reduce the average distance between the factory and our suppliers’ premises by 23 percent. Wherever this is possible, the Company relies upon trains as a means of transport. Rails are also used for pulp supplies to our customers. For overseas customers, the pulp is transported by rail to ports where it is packed away in containers for its subsequent transport by ship. These measures reduce the number of road transports by approx. 12,000 and the amount of emissions by approx. 13,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
